For many patients who really prefer to avoid longer months of treatment in braces, HYBRID treatment is a great option that Smile City Orthodontics offer. Hybrid treatment combines the use of braces and clear aligners. For the first couple of months, braces are used to quickly alleviate crowding, align teeth, and de-rotate severely rotated teeth. Essentially all the heavy lifting is done by braces. After the braces are removed, rest of the tooth movements such as finishing and detailing are done by aligners.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF HYBRID TREATMENT?
The main benefit of Hybrid treatment is addressing the problem faster with braces initially. The same tooth movement with aligners may take longer and thus take longer treatment time. This is a great option for patients who were not candidates for aligner treatment due to the severity of the problem. For e.g a severely rotated tooth may not de-rotate using aligners as well as braces. Braces will de-rotate the tooth and we will then digitally scan your teeth to obtain your sets of aligners.
